Brenda Wagner began her tenure with the OKC PHIL at its inception in 1988 and has been playing the violin for more than 35 years.
Wagner cites her father and fellow OKC PHIL musician Dr. Irvin Wagner (trombone) as her greatest musical influence and thanks the Norman Public Schools String Faculty for showing her that her hands were perfectly sized and suited to play the violin.
Each of Wagner’s seasons with the OKC PHIL bring something new and she always looks forward to the many styles of music which she will be able to play, including music for the Classics, Pops and children’s Discovery Series as well. To her, there is nothing as rewarding as making great music with great people. In addition to the OKC PHIL, Wagner has also played with the Lawton Philharmonic.
Wagner holds both and bachelors and masters degrees in music education and is currently the Orchestra Director at Norman North High School, Orchestra Coordinator for Norman Public School, and a teacher of beginning strings.
In her spare time she enjoys as much European travel as possible.
