Open Rehearsals

Select rehearsals are open to high school and college musicians as a learning experience. Because this is valuable working time for the conductor and the orchestra, there are restrictions and policies that must be followed by all students. Open Rehearsal Guidelines

  • Reservations are required. There will be no admittance without advance registration.
  • No children under 10 years of age are permitted.
  • Admission is restricted to 50 people. Organized school groups may qualify for an exception.
  • Reservations must be made by 12:00pm on the Friday of rehearsal.
  • No specific dress code. Casual, comfortable dress is typical and appropriate.
  • Rehearsal begins at 7:30 pm sharp. All guests should plan on arriving between 7:00 – 7:15pm to be seated.
  • Registered attendees must enter through the North or South backstage doors at the Civic Center Music Hall in downtown OKC. The South backstage entrance is located at Lee and Colcord, the North backstage entrance is located at Lee and Couch. Proceed to the South backstage doors and down the black and white tiled ramp. The Philharmonic Education Coordinator will meet you here to check-in.
  • Check-in begins at 7:00pm, 30 minutes before the rehearsal starts. All rehearsal guests must check in with the Education Coordinator.
  • No admittance after rehearsal begins — no exceptions.
  • Once rehearsal begins and you are seated, please remain in the hall until the director dismisses the orchestra during their break or the conclusion of rehearsal.
  • Attendees will remain seated in the designated area of the hall until break and must leave the theater using the same door through which they entered.
  • After checking in, rehearsal guests must proceed to the hall unless otherwise directed by the Education Coordinator. Rehearsal guests are not allowed in the backstage area of the stage house or the restrooms backstage. The lobby restrooms are available for all rehearsal guests.
  • No cell phone usage allowed.
  • No recording or photography is permitted.
  • Once rehearsal begins and you are seated, please remain in the hall until the director dismisses the orchestra during their break or the conclusion of rehearsal.

Master Classes with Guest Artists

Talented music majors at the university level are paired with guest artists of the Oklahoma City Philharmonic in a lesson before an audience. Master classes are presented at various university locations that are announced throughout the year. For the most current information, sign up for the monthly OKC PHIL eNews.

Master Classes are free of charge and open to the public. Children under 10 years of age are not permitted.
