“The Oklahoma City Philharmonic Spotlights the Next Generation of Talent”
Oklahoma City – The Oklahoma City Philharmonic invites you to experience Oklahoma Stories: Celebrating Our Future on Saturday, October 25, 2025, 7:30 p.m., at the Civic Center Music Hall. This inspiring performance shines a spotlight on the incredible young talent shaping the future of Oklahoma’s musical landscape.
Featuring collaborations with pianist Yihan Zhang, cellist Kiegan Ryan, and the Oklahoma Youth Orchestra, this concert bridges generations of artistry while honoring the state’s vibrant musical heritage.
“I’m so excited to have, for the first time, the Oklahoma City Youth Orchestra and our OKCPHIL competition winners on the stage to showcase the energy and youth of Oklahoma in one of our Classics concerts. It is the first time we are connecting with Oklahoma’s classical stars from tomorrow, and I’m so excited to have the whole youth orchestra perform with us,” said Alexander Mickelthwate, Music Director of the OKCPHIL. “Kiegan Ryan has a beautiful voice as a composer that reflects our culture and times in his work, Kiowa Six. Yihan Zhang, our Youth Concert & Soloist Competition winner, will be the soloist for the Mendelssohn Piano Concerto No. 1. We’re proud to provide them a platform to showcase their talent here, and we are extremely proud of them.”
As part of the Classics Series, Oklahoma Stories continues OKCPHIL’s mission to connect with the community through meaningful programming, education, and cultural celebration. The performance will include works that reflect themes of resilience, transformation, and unity – woven together by Oklahoma’s unique voice.
Tickets start at $24 and are on sale now at okcphil.org/concerts/Oklahoma-stories or by calling (405) 842-5387.
