The multiculturalism, individualism and freedom the US possesses gave space for true musical innovations over the last 50 years. This program explores a variety of innovative forms and celebrates the contrasts! Our fifth classical concert features the Godfather of Minimalism Philip Glass and his first violin concerto, Frank Zappa’s Dog Breath Variations which draws inspiration from jazz, blues and rock (which is absolutely fun and refreshing), and finally, drawing a connection back to the old continent, Slavonic composer Antonin Dvorak’s Symphony No. 8 which was composed before his journey to America, highlights romantic era nationalistic music.
